Bank of America Stadium
Charlotte, North Carolina
The Buffalo Bills will head to Bank of America Stadium to take on the Carolina Panthers on Friday night following two joint practices at Wofford College. Buffalo had many players perform well in their preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts and some bubble players will be looking to stand out against Carolina.
The Bills signed Captain Munnerlyn on Saturday. Munnerlyn spent the last two seasons with the Carolina Panthers. The corner is familiar with Sean McDermott’s system, spending three seasons with him in Carolina. Over the last several seasons, Munnerlyn has seen a lot of action in the slot. During Wednesday’s joint practice with the Panthers, Munnerlyn took first-team reps at nickel. Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier says they will work him into a few snaps during Friday’s scrimmage but want to focus on getting him acclimated first.
Josh Allen will look to build off of his preseason debut. The second-year quarterback went 6-of-11 for 66 yards and had what should have been a touchdown pass dropped by Zay Jones. At running back, all eyes will be on LeSean McCoy to see if he makes his preseason debut. Buffalo’s wide receiver competition is also something to monitor with Isaiah McKenzie and Ray-Ray McCloud competing for the team’s No. 6 job.
Defensively, Buffalo’s first unit played well against Indianapolis despite missing multiple starters. The No. 2 ranked defense from 2018 will look to continue its momentum against the Panthers. The Bills’ battle for the No. 4 defensive end job between Mike Love and Darryl Johnson is worth watching as is the linebacker play behind Buffalo’s starting trio.
The game will feature Andrew Catalon on the play-by-play, Steve Tasker as the color analyst and Thad Brown on the sidelines. A replay of the game will be shown at 11 p.m. Friday on the NFL Network.
